Commissioning Services
New Construction Commissioning
Building owners, architects, general contractors, and other stakeholders in a new construction project need to know that their investment is going to meet their needs and expectations, and be able to take comfort in knowing that their project will be completed safely and without corners being cut or shortcuts being taken. ICx Solutions has become an industry leader in new construction commissioning, which has become common practice in the industry, ensuring that owners will get the end result that they’ve invested in.
New construction commissioning involves our expert team verifying that building subsystems, mechanical and electrical systems, building security, and control systems have been built to spec, following the designs drawn up by building architects and engineers. This process ensures that the owners and stakeholders in a new construction project are getting the most out of their investment, and that the building and its systems will perform as safely, reliably, and efficiently as possible.
The objective of our commissioning agents is to verify that equipment has been properly installed, that they are operating effectively, and that the performance outlined in the project design is being met. The ICx Solutions team is heavily experienced in ASHRAE, LEED and BOMA certified projects, with our commissioning agents going the extra mile to verify that your projects meet these strict guidelines.
Recommissioning
Throughout a building’s lifespan, there are many variables that can shape or change its performance, including changing needs of its occupants, renovations, and systems that have become obsolete – these problems can all be avoided through the process of recommissioning. Recommissioning is the practice of reviewing building equipment and systems between three and five years after it has been built. The commissioning agents at ICx Solutions review and verify that an existing building’s systems and equipment are functioning optimally, allowing building owners to optimize the building’s performance before considering costly and time consuming retrofits and repairs.
Retro Commissioning
With commissioning being a relatively recent phenomenon in the construction industry, many older buildings have never received any sort of commissioning, and as such may not be performing as effectively or efficiently as it they could be. This problem can be easily tackled through retro commissioning, the process of commissioning an existing building.. Commissioning agents from ICx Solutions will verify and document that the building and its systems are operating as efficiently as they could be, offering recommendations that will resolve problems that may have occurred during the building’s initial construction, and identifying opportunities for system improvements. Many of the recommendations made by our team of experts have little implementation cost, but can go a long way in increasing the effectiveness of your building’s systems, and extending its lifespan.
Performance Engineering – Building Operational Assessments
As facilities age, the building’s electrical, mechanical, and control systems performance have been shown to decrease. This decrease in performance is generally due to regular wear and tear, lack of calibration and in some cases, regular maintenance. ICx Solutions boasts a team of performance engineering experts with the ability to effectively analyze overall system performance, and provide recommendations that will optimize maintenance procedures, reduce energy consumption, and increase overall system performance.
Our team does this through a combination of hands-on system testing, careful examination of utility consumption and maintenance records, which allows our experienced team to provide you with an accurate assessment to help you meet your current needs, and provide recommendations for improvements to be made.
